The Portsmouth Amphitheater is an open air performance art center that consists a Bird Air structure, stage and supporting facilities.
The Bird Air structure is a 50,000 square feet tensioned membrane structure supported by a main tower and tensioned cable system. Cable foundations are constructed using 24” diameter auger-cast piles to resist the incredible uplift forces from the Bird Air structure.
Other features contained in the project were an 18-foot high berm, 50,000 square foot of seating, 8,000 square foot stage house, concession stand, ticket center and restroom buildings.
